Relaxing

Tonight we're resting at a relative of Chad's house. I haven't been able to post another picture from Chad's phone because yesterday as I was posting the picture of us eating it started downpouring and hasn't stopped. We hiked from 3-8 in the pouring rain and ended up at a garden shop with an extremely hiker-friendly owner who let us sleep on his porch. I was pretty miserable and freezing cold but changed into my last pair of clean and dry clothes amd crawled into my sleeping bag. We had hiked 20 miles! Today we woke up at 5:30am to do an 18 mile hike to this person's house. I was feeling really beat so I let the boys go on ahead and hiked at my own pace. I only hiked about 7 miles (crossed the NY-Connecticut border!) and got a ride the rest of the way. So now I just took my first shower in 6 days and am laundering my soaking wet and muddy clothes and we're about to enjoy some fresh, real food! Tomorrow we'll do 18 miles and then Chad's parents are visiting to take us out to dinner and enjoy whatever July 3rd events we can find. Then Saturday morning they're taking me down to my car and I'm heading to a family reunion and then back to Ithaca for some real-world living! I'll post some great pictures in a few days!

Still going strong

I've been putting in my all and we've been hiking long days. This
morning we woke up at about 6 am and hiked 5 miles to a deli 0.3 miles
off the trail. I got an eggplant parm sub, cookies, popcorn, a
mountain dew and a snapple. Chad ate an eggplant parm sub, a breafast
bagel, a huge cinnamon roll, a mountain dew, coffee, oj, and a life
water. We also bought the dogs more food. This was at about 10 am.
We're shooting for over 19 today to get ourselves to another deli
tonight!
